1 : 1 Leadership Coaching

“Very great change starts from very small conversations, held among people who care."

Margaret Wheatley

What I Offer

Flexible
Scheduling

Flexible session lengths to meet your busy schedule. Sessions are either 30 minutes or an hour on evenings or weekends EST. Because change takes time and commitment, I offer a 3 session package or a 6 session package. Because I have learned the most effective change happens within a focused time period, all sessions must be used within three months.

Personal
Thought-Partnership

Coaching is a form of thought partnership grounded in my belief that we each have a wise inner teacher within us that sometimes just needs help hearing herself amidst the noise. Coaching is different from consulting or advising where one is looking for external advice and recommendations. To that end, sessions are grounded in my listening to you, asking you questions to help you listen to yourself on a deeper level, and my mirroring back to you your own innate wisdom that you might not have been able to hear . Based on your goals and needs, together we will construct next steps catered to help you creatively build on your strengths to address the situations you’re facing in your leadership.

Future Mindset-
Mapping

Besides supporting you in any immediate situations or challenges you are having in your leadership and creative practices, I also want to help you create a vision for your future leadership self in order to set you up for success when we are not together. Research about change emphasizes how having a larger vision for oneself, not just a list of action steps, supports people in making the changes they want to make in their lives and in their leadership.

Occasional Technical
Support

Although my core belief is that you are your most important resource, I know a stressful “to do” list can get in the way of hearing your own wisdom. I get it. I have been a school and systems leader for over 18 years and a teacher for over 12 years. To that end, occasionally, I might be able to help you get some concrete tasks done. Book hourly advice or actual “get stuff done” support across a range of topics—from planning to problem-solving. This would fall under leadership consulting or advising, not leadership coaching. I can help you discern which one might be most helpful. It can be tricky to discern if you are in a state of overwhelm.

“Working with Ashley has been an invaluable part of my leadership journey. She brings a rare combination of insight, clarity, and strategic thinking to the coach experience, and consistently served as a trusted thought partner as I wrestled with complex opportunities and challenges. Her ability to listen deeply, ask the right questions, and push my thinking strengthened both my leadership and the work with my team.”

Kate Carbone, Deputy Superintendent

What has your experience with Ashley been like?

“Ashley Martin has been a coach and confidant for more than 15 years. She can listen to the jumble of ideas in my head and articulate it back to me with coherence and clarity. She gets me unstuck, points me forward and helps me channel my emotion into action.

Sustained, effective leadership requires thought partners who understand the complexity of the work, the people, and the organization. Ashley gets all three and knows when to push and pull me to the places I need to go as a leader.”

Rachel Romano, School Founder and Executive Director

“I have worked with Ashley in many ways over the years, but most recently as a thought partner to think through my organizational structure. Somehow she took my stream of consciousness and codified it into a coherent document I could work with to restructure my team. The best part was that when she sent it back to me, she called it “Wenimo’s Wisdom,” reminding me that this work was within me all along. She brings such heart, presence, and structure to everything she touches.”
